Highly Stereoselective Glycosylation Reactions

Description:

Researchers at Tufts University have developed a new method to generate 1,2-cis-a-glycosides without the need for specialized directing groups.  The new synthetic approach uses thioglycoside donors, which are shelf-stable and easily adapted to one-pot oligosaccharide synthesis. This is a critical technological development for the iterative synthesis of 1,2-cis-a-glycosides. This new synthetic methadology will help expand the list of synthetic carbohydrate targets available for vaccine development and other therapeutic uses.
